In our practices, all X-ray machines are equipped with a low-radiation, digital recording technology. This achieves a significant reduction of the radiation dose compared to conventional x-ray exposures with film. In addition, those digital images are available immediately and can be provided to you, and to your attending physician at any time. Another great advantage is the elimination of chemicals released through film development.
For a good general overview before implant treatment and surgical extraction of wisdom teeth for example, we use the two-dimensional panoramic tomography (OPTG) as our standard for an overall diagnosis. It scans the upper and lower jaw, nerve channels of the lower jaw, maxillary sinus and temporomandibular joints.
If a higher resolution or more precise representation of individual teeth is required (for example, for controlling microsurgical root resections), we can create a digital dental image directly in each of our operating rooms.
For extended diagnosis or extensive planning in complex initial situations, the 3D imagind (CBCT = cone beam computed tomography or DVT = dental volume tomography) is available in our practice. This use of technique requires additional training and years of experience, which we both possess. With this very precise, radiation-minimized CBCT/DVT diagnosis, we can examine the teeth and the jawbone radiologically from all sides. In the case of complex implant operations, it is also possible to simulate individual surgical procedures on the computer, thereby ensuring the highest degree of predictability and a reduction in operational risk. With the help of the CBCT/DVT, we can create special surgical guides that can be used to perform computer-aided, navigated implantation. It also allows for the creation of an individual augmentation strategy.
